Infinite Ocean Sensory Room

Ocean Theme Sensory Room

Check out the reveal day video below. We want to express our appreciation to Ralph, Alvin and Ryan from Rlph Production.

It was a pleasure to bring this sensory room project to life for Jaxon and his family. We are so grateful to Liuna Local 183 for sponsoring the project and to NLI Solutions for hosting an online auction to raise funds for our charity, enabling us to bring these incredible rooms to life for families with neurodiverse children.

Jaxon absolutely loves ocean animals, and I knew I had to include Marilena from Wall Wear to help bring the ocean theme to life. Marilena is an incredibly talented muralist, and she knocked it out of the park, transforming the walls into a stunning, immersive aquarium.

A space like this will support Jaxon by offering multiple ways to regulate, explore, build skills and play with purpose. Each item contributes to either sensory regulation, motor development, emotional calming or imaginative engagement.

Sensory Regulation and Calming

  • Bubble tube – steady bubbles, colour changes, and gentle vibration create a soothing visual anchor that helps with self‑regulation.

  • Infinity mirror – repeating lights offer predictable visual stimulation that can calm the nervous system.

  • Sensory swing – provides deep pressure and vestibular input, helping with grounding, focus, and emotional regulation.

  • Spin chair – controlled spinning supports vestibular processing and can help a child reset when overstimulated.

  • Area rugs – soften sound, reduce echo, and create cozy, defined zones that feel safe.

  • Ocean‑theme stuffed animals – comforting tactile input and emotional connection through favourite characters.

Gross Motor Development and Body Awareness

  • Monkey bars & ninja bars – build upper‑body strength, coordination, and confidence through climbing and hanging.

  • Roller slide – provides vestibular and proprioceptive input while supporting motor planning.

  • Trampoline – helps with energy regulation, balance, and rhythmic movement.

  • Foam pit – safe place to jump, crash, and explore body awareness.

  • Climbing rope swing & wooden swing – strengthen core muscles and support balance and sensory integration.

  • Plasma car & scooter board – encourage movement, coordination, and bilateral motor skills.

Fine Motor, Cognitive, and Creative Skills

  • Shark‑theme fine motor busy board – strengthens hand muscles, finger dexterity, and problem‑solving through themed activities.

  • Sensory table – supports exploration, pouring, scooping, and tactile learning.

  • Slime & playdough – build fine motor strength and offer calming tactile input.

  • Chalkboard and whiteboard on wheels – encourage drawing, writing, creativity, and communication.

  • Ocean‑theme artwork – reinforces interests, supports visual engagement, and creates a predictable, comforting environment.

Imaginative Play, Social Skills, and Emotional Growth

  • Reading nook – a quiet retreat for calming down, building literacy, and enjoying special interests.

  • Playhouse with kitchen – encourages pretend play, sequencing, and social interaction.

  • Playcouches – can be rearranged into forts, obstacle courses, or cozy spaces, supporting creativity and emotional regulation.

Mood Board that was shared with the family, design by Natalie Abkarian Cimini from For Little Monkeys Charity

Here’s some behind the scenes pictures. We worked with Christina and Dave for the base coat of the mural, Marilena for the mural and Matt and Kevin from Drake and Co Renos for the install. Mike from For Little Monkeys Charity helped assemble furniture and delivered all the products to ensure install day was seamless.

Thank you to Audra Bradbury from North of 42 for capturing the beautiful pictures below from our reveal day. Audra is such a lovely photographer whose talent shines through in every image she captures. Even more remarkable is the fact that she volunteers her time and skills to support the charity. Her generosity, professionalism and heart make a real difference, and her support is deeply appreciated.

Thank you again to our sponsors for helping us bring this project to life!

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Sponsors and Donors

At For Little Monkeys Charity, we are reminded every single day that the work we do is only possible because of the generosity of others. Families facing hardship turn to us for support, stability, and hope, and your kindness makes it all happen.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without our sponsors and donors. Your contributions help us design and donate sensory rooms to support families during their most vulnerable moments. You help create a community where no child is left behind, and no parent has to face challenges alone.

But the need continues to grow.

If you believe in strengthening families, uplifting children, and building a more compassionate community, we invite you to join us. Every donation, big or small creates real impact for real families.

Consider becoming a donor today. Together, we can continue changing lives, one little monkey at a time. Click here to donate.

Lots of love,

Natalie Abkarian Cimini, President/Founder, For Little Monkeys® Charity
